Who this qualification is for
The qualification assesses the skills and knowledge needed in the children and young people’s workforce, and provides progression into Early Learning and Childcare, Social Care, and Learning Development and Support Services.
There are no specific entry requirements. Entry is at the discretion of the centre, and learners should be at least 16 years old.
Qualification structure
Learners achieve a minimum of 35 credits: 29 credits from the mandatory units and a minimum of 6 credits from optional units.

How you are assessed
Internally assessed and externally assured by Focus Awards. Each learner builds a portfolio of evidence demonstrating achievement of all the learning outcomes and assessment criteria for each unit — assessor observation, witness testimony, learner products, worksheets, assignments, records of oral and written questioning, learner and peer reports, and recognition of prior learning.
